A Science-Backed Guide to Brain, Mitochondrial & Inflammatory Support

Molecular hydrogen (H₂) is gaining serious traction in functional and integrative medicine — and for good reason. With over 2,000 published studies and more than 100 human clinical trials, it’s one of the most researched therapeutic gases in the world, yet most people are just beginning to hear about it.

Unlike many supplements or interventions that can feel stimulating, harsh, or overwhelming (especially for sensitive individuals), molecular hydrogen is known for being extremely gentle, with virtually no reported side effects in clinical research. This makes it a powerful option for people dealing with chronic inflammation, neurological stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, or environmental toxin exposure.

This blog post breaks down the basics of molecular hydrogen, the different delivery methods, answers the most common questions, and explains why it has become one of our favorite tools, specifically Axiom H2 — particularly for brain inflammation and mitochondrial health. (Make sure to check it out and use code: BOMBSHELL to save even more!)

What Is Molecular Hydrogen?

Molecular hydrogen (H₂) is the smallest molecule in the universe, which gives it a unique therapeutic advantage. Because of its size, it can easily penetrate cell membranes, enter mitochondria, and cross the blood–brain barrier, something many antioxidants and supplements fail to do.

Hydrogen functions as a selective antioxidant, meaning it neutralizes the most damaging free radicals without interfering with beneficial oxidative signaling that the body still needs. This is critical, because too many antioxidants can actually disrupt cellular balance.

In short: molecular hydrogen helps calm harmful inflammation without shutting down normal cellular processes.

How Can You Take Molecular Hydrogen?

There are several ways molecular hydrogen is delivered in research and clinical settings, but two methods have quickly become popular among the masses:

1. Hydrogen Tablets (Hydrogen-Rich Water)

Hydrogen tablets are dropped into water, where they dissolve and generate hydrogen-rich water that you drink.

Best option for:

Beginners, new to molecular hydrogen

Travel or convenience

Mild symptoms

Pros:

Easy to use

Portable and affordable

Widely studied

Limitations:

Significantly lower hydrogen dose compared to inhalation (doing a 15 minute hydrogen inhalation session is equivalent to drinking hundreds of hydrogen water bottles)

Shorter duration of exposure

2. Hydrogen Inhalation (Most Therapeutic)

Hydrogen inhalation involves breathing hydrogen gas through a machine, typically via a nasal cannula or mask.

This method delivers much higher concentrations of molecular hydrogen, allowing it to circulate rapidly throughout the body and reach the brain and mitochondria at therapeutic levels.

Best for:

Brain inflammation (esp well-tolerated in Autism, PANS, PANDAS)

Mitochondrial dysfunction

Autoimmune and neuroimmune conditions

Mold, Lyme, pesticide, or toxin exposure

Neurological sensitivity

Adjunctive support during cancer or intensive healing protocols

Why inhalation is more powerful: Inhalation allows hydrogen to enter the bloodstream quickly and consistently, making it far more therapeutic than tablets — especially for people with complex or chronic health concerns.

Tablets vs. Inhalation: Comparative Table

Inhalation

Higher therapeutic exposure

Requires a machine, higher cost

Acute, severe, or neurological conditions

For many people, tablets are a great starting point, while inhalation is considered the gold standard for therapeutic use.

What Are the Main Benefits of Molecular Hydrogen?

Research suggests molecular hydrogen may provide therapeutic support for:

Reducing oxidative stress and inflammation

Brain inflammation and neuro-protection

Neurodegenerative conditions (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s)

Traumatic brain injury and neurological recovery

Mitochondrial function and energy production

Autoimmune and inflammatory conditions

Environmental toxin exposure (mold, pesticides, Lyme, etc.)

Cardiovascular health

Metabolic dysfunction and diabetes

Exercise recovery and fatigue

Adjunctive cancer support

Has an excellent safety profile

Can be used long-term

Stacks well with other therapies

Does not create antioxidant overload

There are thousands of studies exploring these benefits, make sure to check out our sources at the end of this document.

Why We Recommend Molecular Hydrogen

Out of all the tools we use in practice, molecular hydrogen stands out as one of our favorites for brain inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Modern environmental stressors: mold, pesticides, chronic infections, heavy metals, and persistent stress, disproportionately affect the brain and nervous system. Molecular hydrogen helps calm inflammation without overstimulating the nervous system, making it especially valuable for sensitive individuals and children.

Once we understood how powerful molecular hydrogen can be, the next step was finding a company that met our standards for safety, quality, and therapeutic effectiveness. We found it! >>> use code BOMBSHELL to save!

Our Favorite Hydrogen Brand: Axiom H2

When people start researching molecular hydrogen, one of the first things they notice is that there are cheaper machines on the market. And naturally, the question becomes:

“If they all produce hydrogen, why wouldn’t I just buy the least expensive one?”

This is where quality, safety, and engineering matter A LOT.

Hydrogen is a gas you are breathing directly into your body, often for extended periods of time. That means the materials used to generate that gas, the purity of the output, and the durability of the internal components are not just small details, they’re everything.

Here’s why we chose Axiom H2.

1. Platinum-Coated Plates (This Is HUGE)

Axiom machines use platinum-coated plates in their electrolysis system.

Why this matters:

Platinum is chemically stable and non-reactive

It resists corrosion and erosion over time

It significantly reduces the risk of metal degradation or toxin contamination in the hydrogen gas

Many lower-cost hydrogen machines use less stable metals that can degrade with repeated use, potentially allowing unwanted byproducts into the gas you’re inhaling.

When it comes to something you’re breathing — especially for brain and neurological health — this is not an area to cut corners.

2. High, Consistent Output (Without Compromising Purity)

Axiom machines deliver true therapeutic-level output (300 or 600 mL/min) while maintaining gas purity.

Some cheaper machines may:

Advertise high output but fail to sustain it

Produce inconsistent hydrogen levels

Compromise gas quality to hit numbers on paper

With Axiom, output is both powerful and consistent, which matters if you’re using hydrogen for: Brain inflammation, Mitochondrial dysfunction, and/or Chronic or complex conditions.

3. Minimal Maintenance (No Constant Cleaning or Replacing Parts)

Axiom machines are designed so that:

You do not need frequent internal cleaning

There are no consumable plates that need regular replacement

Using distilled water helps prevent mineral buildup

This is a major difference from lower-quality machines that require ongoing maintenance, descaling, or part replacement — which can quietly add cost and frustration over time.

4. Built for Long-Term, Therapeutic Use

Axiom machines are built with the assumption that people will be using them:

Daily

Long-term (Sometimes for hours at a time)

They are engineered for clinical-level use, not just casual wellness experimentation. That’s especially important for individuals with:

Neurological sensitivity

Autoimmune or inflammatory conditions

Children or vulnerable populations

5. Made With Safety, Transparency, and Standards in Mind

Axiom prioritizes:

High-quality materials

Transparent specifications

Clear guidance on use and expectations

No exaggerated health guarantees

That matters to us! We only recommend tools we would feel confident using ourselves and recommending to our own families and clients.

Commonly Asked Questions About Axiom H2:

⭐ ️HW300 vs HW600: Which Machine should I choose, lower or higher output?

Axiom offers two main personal hydrogen machines:

HW300 — delivers ~300 mL/min of hydrogen gas. Smaller, more portable, and great for everyday use.

HW600 — delivers ~600 mL/min of gas — double the output of the HW300, meaning you can get a similar total dose in half the time or higher output per session if that’s the goal.

Both models produce the same purity of molecular hydrogen gas — the difference is how fast the gas is delivered. Axiom clarifies that you can achieve similar total volumes with either device by adjusting session length, but the HW600 is inherently more time-efficient.

Go with HW300 if you want easy daily use, travel, or lower cost. (but longer sessions 👀)
Go with HW600 if you want deep therapeutic inhalation (especially for brain inflammation, chronic stress, or sensitive systems).

⭐️How Long Should You Use Hydrogen Each Day?

The general recommendation:

Beginners: 15–30 minutes to start

Over 1–2 weeks: Increase toward 1–2 hours per day, based on comfort and goals

Some users choose several shorter sessions throughout the week instead of daily — it’s flexible and self-paced.

This supports the idea that hydrogen dosing isn’t one-size-fits-all and can be personalized to lifestyle and symptom severity.

⭐️What Should You Expect From the Airflow?

Because hydrogen gas is extremely light, you may not feel a strong airflow during inhalation. This is normal: many people don’t feel much at all.

You should not expect the same sensation as a nebulizer!

⭐️Tablets vs Machines: Which one should I buy?

Both hydrogen machines and supersaturated hydrogen tablets deliver molecular hydrogen, they just do it in different ways:

Machines: Continuous stream of H₂ gas for inhalation and water infusion.

Super Saturated H2 Tablets: Hydrogen released in the stomach after ingestion.

Axiom notes that many customers use both, depending on convenience, travel needs, or dosing goals. Tablets offer portability while devices offer ongoing access without the need to restock.

⭐️Is there research to support molecular hydrogen?
Yes. Over 2,000 studies and 100+ clinical trials have explored molecular hydrogen’s role in inflammation, neurological health, metabolic conditions, and more. If curious to learn more check out our resources below.

⭐️Are there any side effects?
No significant side effects have been reported in human or animal studies, making molecular hydrogen a safe option for most people. Of course we always recommend starting with a sensitive dose and building towards tolerance.

Have you ever wondered why you can do everything “right”—eat clean, exercise, take supplements—but still feel terrible?

You wake up exhausted even after 8+ hours of sleep. Your brain feels foggy. Your digestion is unpredictable. Your hormones are all over the place.

And when you go to the doctor? “Everything looks normal.”

Here’s what conventional medicine isn’t telling you: it’s not about one thing you’re doing wrong. It’s about everything your body is trying to process.

Think of your body like a bucket.

(But a super cute one, like you.)

The Bucket That’s Quietly Overflowing

Every single day, toxins drip into your bucket:

Chemicals from air fresheners, cleaning products, scented candles, and personal care items

BPA and phthalates from receipts, plastic containers, and food packaging

Pesticides on your produce (yes, even organic fruits and veggies can get cross-contaminated or be sprayed with “approved” pesticides)

Processed foods loaded with additives, emulsifiers, artificial sweeteners, and preservatives

Microplastics from food storage, clothing fibers, and packaging

Heavy metals from old pipes, fish, cookware, and environmental exposure

Mold mycotoxins from water-damaged buildings, food, and hidden sources in your home

EMF exposure from wifi, phones, and electronic devices

Plus, your body’s own natural waste that your detox organs need to clear—like hormones, cellular debris, and metabolic byproducts

Over time, your adorable little bucket starts to fill up.

And at some point, it overflows.

That’s when symptoms appear.

Why Some Buckets Overflow Faster

You might be wondering: “But my friend eats worse than me and feels fine. Why am I the one struggling?”

Great question. Here’s why some people’s buckets fill faster than others:

Genetic Variations

Some people have genetic variations (like MTHFR, COMT, or GST polymorphisms) that make it harder to process and eliminate toxins efficiently. Their detox pathways are naturally slower, so toxins accumulate faster.

Sluggish Drainage Pathways

If your lymphatic system is congested, your liver is overburdened, your gut isn’t eliminating daily, or your kidneys are stressed—you can’t eliminate toxins efficiently. They just recirculate and accumulate.

This is why I always say: drainage before detox. If the drainage pathways aren’t open, adding more “detox” just makes things worse.

Multiple Exposures at Once

Many people are dealing with multiple toxic sources simultaneously. Maybe you have mold in your home, mercury fillings in your mouth, parasites in your gut, and you’re drinking out of plastic water bottles.

Each individual exposure might be “manageable,” but the compound effect pushes you over the edge.

Compromised Gut Health

Your gut is responsible for eliminating a huge portion of toxins. If you have leaky gut, dysbiosis, or constipation, toxins that should be leaving your body through stool are getting reabsorbed instead.

Previous Toxic Exposure

If you grew up in a moldy home, had mercury amalgam fillings as a child, or were exposed to environmental toxins early in life, you might be starting with a half-full bucket before you even add current exposures.

Signs Your Bucket Is Overflowing

When your toxic load finally spills over, your body sends clear signals. These aren’t random symptoms—they’re root cause clues that your body is overwhelmed:

Energy & Cognitive Function

You wake up tired even after sleeping 8+ hours

Brain fog makes you feel like you’re thinking through cotton

Your energy crashes hard in the afternoon

You feel wired but tired—exhausted but can’t sleep

Mood & Mental Health

You get anxious or irritable for no apparent reason

Mood swings that seem to come out of nowhere

Depression that doesn’t respond to conventional approaches

Feeling overwhelmed easily

Digestive Issues

Bloating (especially after meals)

Constipation or irregular bowel movements

Food sensitivities that seem to be multiplying

Unpredictable digestion

Hormonal Dysfunction

PMS symptoms getting worse

Irregular cycles

Low libido

Stubborn weight gain (especially around the midsection)

Perimenopause or menopause symptoms that are severe

Physical Symptoms

Joint pain or muscle aches that come and go

Skin issues like acne, eczema, or persistent dryness

Headaches or migraines

Chemical sensitivities that are getting worse

Metabolic Issues

You crave sugar constantly

Weight loss resistance despite doing everything “right”

Blood sugar imbalances

Feeling cold all the time

If you’re nodding your head reading this list, it’s your body’s way of saying: “The bucket is overflowing. I need help.”

How Mold Fits Into Your Toxic Load

Mold exposure doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s one piece of your total toxic burden.

When you’re exposed to mold mycotoxins (the toxic compounds that some molds produce), your liver has to work overtime to process and eliminate them.

But here’s the problem: if your liver is already busy dealing with plastics, pesticides, heavy metals, and metabolic waste, it can’t keep up.

The mycotoxins start accumulating.

What Mold Mycotoxins Do In Your Body

They interfere with mitochondrial function. Your mitochondria are your cellular powerhouses—they produce the energy (ATP) that keeps you alive. When mycotoxins damage mitochondria, your energy production crashes. This is why mold-exposed people often feel crushing fatigue.

They trigger immune dysfunction. Your immune system goes into overdrive trying to deal with the mycotoxins, leading to chronic inflammation, autoimmune flare-ups, and increased susceptibility to other issues.

They disrupt hormones. Mold mycotoxins are endocrine disruptors. They interfere with hormone production, metabolism, and signaling—contributing to thyroid issues, estrogen dominance, and metabolic dysfunction.

They create oxidative stress. Mycotoxins generate free radicals that damage your cells, DNA, and tissues throughout your body.

They’re fat-soluble. This is the kicker. Mold mycotoxins get stored in your fatty tissues—including your brain—where they can continue causing problems long after the initial exposure.

This is why some people develop chronic symptoms after mold exposure that persist even after they’ve left the moldy environment. The mycotoxins are still in there, stored in fat, creating ongoing inflammation and dysfunction.

The Compound Effect: Why One More Toxin Breaks The Camel’s Back

Here’s a scenario I see all the time:

A client comes to me saying, “I’ve always been healthy. But about six months ago, everything fell apart. I’m exhausted, my hormones are a mess, my digestion is terrible, and I can barely think straight.”

When we dig deeper, we find:

They moved into a new apartment that has hidden mold

They started a high-stress job (cortisol is taxing on the liver)

They’re drinking from plastic water bottles daily

They have unaddressed parasites stealing nutrients

Their drainage pathways are sluggish from years of birth control use

No single thing “caused” their symptoms. But the compound effect of multiple toxins filling the bucket simultaneously caused the overflow.

This is why conventional medicine struggles with these cases. They’re looking for one diagnosis, one cause, one pill to fix it.

But that’s not how toxic burden works.

How To Empty Your Overflowing Bucket

So what do you do when your bucket is overflowing and you’re experiencing symptoms?

The first step is understanding exactly what’s in your bucket and how full it actually is.

You can’t address what you don’t understand. And trying to randomly detox without knowing your specific toxic burden is like throwing darts in the dark—expensive and ineffective.

Get Clear On Your Toxic Load

I created the Free Toxic Load Assessment to give you clarity on your body’s toxic burden across major categories—mold mycotoxins, heavy metals, chemicals, parasites, and more.

This assessment takes less than 10 minutes and reveals the top root cause clues contributing to your health challenges. Within 24-48 hours, you’ll get your personalized score showing you which systems need support first.

Plus, you’ll get immediate access to my Toxic Load Masterclass, where I break down exactly what your results mean and how to create a strategic plan for reducing your burden.

No more guessing. No more throwing money at random supplements. Just clear insights into what your body actually needs.

Get Your Free Toxic Load Assessment

The Strategic Approach That Actually Works

Once you know your toxic load score, here’s the strategic approach to emptying your bucket:

Step 1: Open Your Drainage Pathways

Remember: drainage before detox. Always.

If your elimination pathways aren’t flowing—if your lymphatic system is sluggish, your liver is overburdened, or your bowels aren’t moving daily—trying to detox will just mobilize toxins that have nowhere to go. You’ll feel worse.

We need to open the drainage pathways first: lymphatic flow, liver support, gut motility, kidney function.

Step 2: Reduce New Exposures

While you’re working on eliminating what’s already in your bucket, stop adding more. This means:

Addressing hidden mold in your home

Switching to non-toxic personal care and cleaning products

Filtering your water

Reducing plastic exposure

Eating organic when possible

Managing stress (cortisol taxes your detox systems)

Step 3: Address Specific Contributors

Once drainage is flowing and you’ve reduced new exposures, you can start addressing the specific contributors to your toxic load—whether that’s mold mycotoxins, heavy metals, chemicals, or parasitic load.

This requires bioindividualized protocols based on your specific patterns and test results. Not cookie-cutter cleanses or one-size-fits-all approaches.

Step 4: Rebuild Your Terrain

Finally, rebuild the terrain so your body becomes resilient and inhospitable to future toxic accumulation. This includes:

Gut health restoration

Mitochondrial support

Immune system modulation

Hormone balance

Nutrient repletion

This is the piece most people skip—and it’s why they end up back where they started six months later.

You’re Not Broken

If you’re reading this and recognizing yourself in these symptoms, I want you to hear this:

You’re not broken.

You’re not crazy.

And it’s not all in your head.

Your body is doing exactly what it’s designed to do—sending you signals that something needs attention. The bucket is overflowing, and your symptoms are the overflow.

The exhaustion, brain fog, digestive issues, hormonal chaos—these aren’t signs of weakness or failure. They’re root cause clues pointing to toxic burden that needs to be addressed.

And when you address the root cause instead of just masking symptoms, everything changes.

Your energy returns. Your brain clears. Your digestion normalizes. Your hormones balance.

You start feeling like yourself again.

Start With Understanding

The journey to emptying your toxic load bucket starts with understanding what’s actually in there.

Take the Free Toxic Load Assessment and get clarity on your specific burden. In less than 10 minutes, you’ll have more insights than you’ve gotten from months or years of conventional doctor visits.

Then we can create a strategic, bioindividualized plan to address YOUR specific contributors—not a generic protocol that may or may not apply to you.

“Why am I STILL bloated?!”

This is one of the most common frustrations I hear from clients who’ve tried everything.

They’ve done elimination diets. They’ve taken probiotics. They’ve tried digestive enzymes, apple cider vinegar, bone broth, and every supplement their wellness-obsessed friend recommended.

But the bloating keeps coming back.

If this sounds like you—if you’re tired of looking six months pregnant by dinnertime despite eating “all the right things”—I need you to hear this:

The bloating isn’t the problem. It’s a symptom pointing to deeper root cause clues that haven’t been addressed yet.

Let me share the five most overlooked contributors to chronic bloating that conventional medicine completely misses.

1. Undiagnosed Digestive Imbalances

Beyond the obvious IBS label that gets thrown around, there are specific patterns that could be contributing to your bloating:

SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) – When bacteria that should live in your large intestine migrate up into your small intestine, they ferment the food you eat, creating gas and that uncomfortable, distended feeling. You might notice you feel worse after eating supposedly “healthy” foods like salads, beans, or fermented foods.

Parasitic patterns – Parasites don’t just cause diarrhea like we’ve been taught. They can create chronic bloating, gas, and that feeling of never being quite “empty.” And no, you don’t need to travel internationally to have parasites—they’re in our food supply, our water, and even our pets.

Food sensitivities – These are different from allergies. You might not have an immediate reaction, but hours later, you’re bloated and uncomfortable. The tricky part? The foods causing issues might be the “healthy” ones you’re eating every day—like eggs, dairy, gluten, or even supposedly gut-friendly foods.

Many people suffer for years without proper functional testing to identify these specific patterns. Standard medical tests often come back “normal” while you’re still miserable.

2. Hidden Fluid Retention

Here’s something most people don’t realize: your bloating might not be digestive at all.

Hormonal imbalances – Estrogen dominance, progesterone deficiency, or thyroid dysfunction can all cause your body to retain fluid, especially around your midsection. This is why many women notice their bloating gets worse at certain times of their cycle.

Chronic stress – When your cortisol rhythm is disrupted from ongoing stress, your body holds onto sodium and water as a protective mechanism. You might wake up looking relatively flat, but by afternoon, you’re puffy and swollen.

Toxic overload – When your liver and lymphatic system are overwhelmed with toxins, fluid accumulation is one of the ways your body tries to dilute and manage the burden. This type of bloating often comes with other symptoms like brain fog, fatigue, and skin issues.

If your bloating doesn’t seem connected to what you eat, fluid retention could be the hidden culprit.

3. Chronic Dehydration

This sounds counterintuitive, but when you’re dehydrated, your body holds onto every drop of water it can get—leading to that puffy, uncomfortable feeling.

Think of it like this: when your body thinks there’s a water shortage, it goes into conservation mode. It holds onto fluid in your tissues, creating that swollen, bloated sensation.

Many of my clients think they’re drinking enough water, but when we actually calculate their needs based on body weight and activity level, they’re falling far short.

The other piece most people miss: Coffee, tea, and other caffeinated beverages don’t count toward hydration. They’re actually diuretics that increase water loss.

And if you’re drinking tons of water but still dehydrated? That’s a sign your electrolytes are out of balance and you’re just flushing water through without actually absorbing it.

4. Toxic Overload

Your liver processes over 500 functions daily. It’s your body’s main detoxification organ, responsible for filtering and eliminating everything from:

Hormones (used estrogen, cortisol, insulin)

Metabolic waste products

Environmental toxins (pesticides, heavy metals, plastics)

Chemicals from personal care products and cleaning supplies

Additives and preservatives from processed foods

When your liver is overwhelmed by this constant influx of toxins, it can’t efficiently process waste. The backup creates inflammation, congestion, and—you guessed it—bloating.

This is why some people notice their bloating is worse after using certain products, being in certain environments, or eating processed foods. It’s not just about the food itself—it’s about the total toxic burden your body is trying to manage.

Here’s the kicker: Most people have no idea their liver is struggling until they start addressing their toxic load. Standard liver function tests only catch severe problems, not the chronic overwhelm that creates everyday symptoms like bloating.

5. Stress and Poor Sleep

Chronic stress and inadequate sleep disrupt your gut-brain connection in profound ways.

The gut-brain axis is a two-way communication highway. When you’re stressed, your brain sends signals that slow digestion, alter gut motility, and change the composition of your gut microbiome. This can lead to:

Food sitting in your digestive tract longer than it should

Increased intestinal permeability (“leaky gut”)

Altered gut bacteria balance

Increased inflammation throughout your body

Poor sleep compounds the problem. When you’re not sleeping well, your body can’t properly repair your gut lining, regulate your hormones, or manage inflammation. The result? More bloating, more digestive distress, more symptoms.

I’ve worked with clients whose bloating dramatically improved just by addressing their sleep quality and stress levels—without changing anything else about their diet.

The Missing Piece: It’s All Connected

Here’s what most practitioners miss: These root cause clues are often interconnected.

You might have SIBO because chronic stress disrupted your gut motility, which led to bacterial overgrowth. The SIBO created nutrient deficiencies, which compromised your immune system. Your weakened immune system allowed parasitic patterns to develop. The parasites created more inflammation and toxic burden. The toxic overload disrupted your sleep. Poor sleep increased your stress hormones. And the cycle continues.

See how complex this gets?

This is exactly why the conventional approach of “take this probiotic and hope for the best” doesn’t work for chronic bloating.

You’re not dealing with one simple issue. You’re dealing with multiple interconnected contributors that all need to be identified and addressed systematically.

Why the Conventional Approach Falls Short

The conventional approach: Take a probiotic. Try an elimination diet. Maybe get prescribed an acid reducer or IBS medication. Hope for the best.

The problem: This is playing whack-a-mole with symptoms instead of identifying what’s actually driving them.

You might get temporary relief, but the bloating comes back because the root cause clues were never addressed.

My approach: Identify YOUR specific root cause clues through comprehensive analysis and functional lab testing data, then create a bioindividualized plan of care that addresses all the contributors—not just the most obvious one.

This means:

Understanding your complete health history and patterns

Running the right functional labs (not just standard medical tests)

Identifying which of these five contributors are affecting YOU specifically

Creating a strategic plan that addresses them in the right order

Supporting your drainage pathways before attempting deeper protocols

Monitoring your progress and adjusting as needed

No more guessing. No more band-aid solutions. Just real answers and a clear path forward.

What Comprehensive Analysis Reveals

When I work with clients who’ve been struggling with chronic bloating, comprehensive analysis and functional lab testing often reveals patterns like:

SIBO or IMO (Intestinal Methanogen Overgrowth) that standard tests missed

Multiple food sensitivities they had no idea about

Parasitic patterns that have been there for years

Toxic burden from mold, heavy metals, or chemicals

Hormonal imbalances contributing to fluid retention

Compromised liver function that isn’t showing up on standard labs

Gut microbiome imbalances that need specific support

With this information, we can finally create a plan that actually works—because it’s addressing YOUR specific contributors, not just generic “gut health” protocols.

Your Body Is Telling You Something

Chronic bloating is your body’s way of telling you something deeper is going on.

It’s not “just IBS.” It’s not “just stress.” It’s not something you have to live with forever.

It’s a clear signal that there are root cause clues that need to be identified and addressed.

And when you finally address those root causes—when you stop playing whack-a-mole with symptoms and start supporting your body’s natural healing capacity—the bloating resolves on its own.

Imagine waking up with a flat stomach that stays flat throughout the day. No more unbuttoning your pants after lunch. No more avoiding certain clothes because you know you’ll be bloated by evening. No more feeling self-conscious about looking pregnant when you’re not.

That’s possible when you address the actual contributors instead of just managing symptoms.

Because here’s the truth: you deserve to understand what’s happening in YOUR body specifically. Not generic advice. Not one-size-fits-all protocols. But real insights into your unique root cause clues.

The post Why Am I STILL Bloated? 5 Root Cause Clues Your Doctor Is Missing first appeared on Biohacking Bombshell.

After over a decade of working with clients and diving deep into root cause clues, I’ve completely transformed how I approach daily wellness choices.

These aren’t just trendy health hacks—they’re evidence-based shifts that have made a profound difference in my own health and the health of thousands of clients I’ve worked with.

Some of these might surprise you. A few might make you uncomfortable. But they all represent a fundamental shift in how I think about supporting my body’s natural processes instead of working against them.

Ready? Let’s dive in.

1. Wear Underwear to Bed

I know this might sound unconventional, but here’s what the research shows: wearing underwear to bed increases moisture and heat in the vaginal area, creating the perfect environment for harmful bacteria and yeast to thrive. This significantly increases your risk for yeast overgrowth, bacterial imbalances, and UTIs.

Your vaginal microbiome is incredibly intelligent and actually wants to reset during sleep, just like the rest of your body systems. The beneficial bacteria need proper airflow and pH balance to maintain optimal function. When you trap moisture and heat with tight-fitting underwear, you’re disrupting this natural process.

My approach: I let everything breathe at night. Your microbiome will thank you, and you’ll likely notice fewer issues and irritation over time.

2. Get Mammograms

This is a topic I’ve researched extensively, and the data is eye-opening. While conventional medicine promotes mammograms as the gold standard, there are significant concerns about radiation exposure, compression trauma, and false positive rates that aren’t discussed openly.

The cumulative radiation exposure from annual mammograms can potentially contribute to increased risk, particularly in women with dense breast tissue or certain genetic variations. Additionally, the compression required raises questions about potential effects on existing abnormal cells through lymphatic channels.

Better alternatives I explore with clients: Thermography offers a radiation-free option that detects metabolic changes. Ultrasound and MRI provide detailed imaging without radiation exposure. These approaches focus on different detection mechanisms while avoiding potential concerns associated with radiation.

Important note: This is educational information only. Always discuss screening options with your healthcare provider based on your individual risk factors and health history.

3. Brush Teeth After Meals

This goes against everything we were taught, but dental research has evolved significantly. When you eat, especially acidic or sugary foods, your tooth enamel temporarily softens as your mouth’s pH changes. Brushing immediately after eating can actually abrade this softened enamel, leading to increased sensitivity and enamel erosion over time.

Your saliva naturally neutralizes acids and begins remineralizing your teeth within 30-60 minutes after eating. This is your body’s brilliant natural protection system.

My new protocol: I brush before meals when possible, or wait at least 30 minutes afterward. This protects my enamel while still maintaining oral hygiene. If I need fresh breath immediately after eating, I rinse with water or use a natural mouthwash instead.

4. Sleep on Top Floors of Hotels

This is all about electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure. Most hotels install cell towers and transmission equipment on their roofs to provide better connectivity for guests. The closer your room is to this equipment, the higher your exposure to radiofrequency radiation.

While research on EMF health effects is still evolving, there’s growing evidence that chronic exposure may disrupt sleep quality, affect hormone production, and contribute to cellular stress. Since sleep is when our bodies repair and detoxify, I prioritize creating the cleanest sleep environment possible.

My travel strategy: I always request lower floors, ideally the second or third floor. I also travel with an EMF meter to check radiation levels in my room and use airplane mode on devices whenever possible.

5. Wash My Face With Traditional Cleansers

Conventional face washing strips away your skin’s natural protective barrier—the acid mantle—which is crucial for maintaining healthy pH balance and protecting against harmful bacteria. This often triggers your skin to overproduce oil, leading to more breakouts, enlarged pores, and accelerated aging.

Your skin has its own microbiome that needs to be supported, not destroyed. Harsh cleansers disrupt this delicate ecosystem, often making skin problems worse rather than better.

My gentler approach: I do an oil cleanse first to dissolve makeup and pollution, followed by a raw honey cleanse. Oil actually dissolves oil-based impurities without disrupting the skin barrier, while raw honey has antimicrobial properties and helps maintain proper pH balance.

6. Get Ice in Drinks

Two major concerns here: mold exposure and digestive impact. Ice machines in restaurants, bars, and hotels are notorious breeding grounds for mold and bacteria. These machines are rarely cleaned properly, and the dark, moist environment is perfect for microbial growth.

From a digestive perspective, ice-cold beverages require significant energy for your body to bring to body temperature before absorption. This can slow digestion and potentially interfere with enzyme function.

What I do instead: I request room temperature water or beverages whenever possible. At home, I keep filtered water at room temperature for optimal hydration and digestive support.

7. Buy Coffee or Tea at Coffee Shops

Unless I can verify that the coffee is certified organic and tested for mold, or that the tea is organic loose-leaf, I avoid coffee shop beverages. Conventional coffee is one of the most heavily pesticide-treated crops, and improper storage can lead to mycotoxin (mold toxin) contamination.

Many commercial teas contain pesticide residues, artificial flavors, and low-quality ingredients. Tea bags themselves can contain plastic particles that leach into hot water.

My solution: I invest in high-quality, organic, mold-tested coffee and organic loose-leaf teas for home. This gives me complete control over the quality and preparation methods while avoiding potential toxic exposures.

8. Drink Large Amounts of Liquids With Meals

Your digestive system produces specific enzymes and stomach acid concentrations to properly break down food. When you drink large amounts of liquid during meals, you dilute these essential digestive juices, potentially compromising nutrient absorption and digestion quality.

This can lead to bloating, gas, partially digested food particles, and decreased nutrient availability—even from healthy foods.

My digestive protocol: I limit liquids to about 6 ounces or less with meals. I hydrate well about 20 minutes before eating, then minimize liquid intake during meals and for about an hour afterward. This supports optimal digestion and nutrient absorption.

9. Put Citrus Wedges in Drinks When Dining Out

This is purely about contamination risk. Citrus garnishes are rarely washed properly and receive extensive handling during preparation and serving. Studies have shown that these garnishes often carry harmful bacteria, including E. coli and salmonella.

When you squeeze the wedge and leave it in your drink, you’re essentially creating a bacterial tea that you then consume throughout your meal.

My safer approach: I ask for the juice to be squeezed into my drink, then request that the fruit wedge be removed. I get the flavor benefit without the contamination risk.

10. Use Air Fryers

While air fryers seem like a healthier cooking option, most are coated with PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances)—the same “forever chemicals” found in non-stick cookware. These chemicals can leach into food, especially at high temperatures.

PFAS persist in the body for 15+ years and have been linked to hormone disruption, immune system challenges, liver dysfunction, increased health risks, and neurological impacts. The convenience isn’t worth the long-term health consequences.

My cooking alternative: I use a countertop convection oven with stainless steel components. It provides similar results without the toxic chemical exposure, and stainless steel is one of the safest cooking surfaces available.

The Bigger Picture: It’s About Reducing Your Toxic Load

These might seem like small changes, but they represent a fundamental shift in how I think about daily wellness choices.

Instead of accepting conventional wisdom without question, I dig into the research and ask: “What does this choice mean for my long-term health? Is this supporting or burdening my body?”

Each of these adjustments:

Supports your body’s natural detoxification pathways

Reduces your overall toxic load

Honors your body’s innate wisdom

Addresses root cause clues rather than just managing symptoms

They’re part of a comprehensive approach to giving your body what it needs to function optimally—and removing what’s getting in the way.

You Don’t Have to Do Everything at Once

Remember: You don’t have to implement all of these changes tomorrow.

Choose one or two that resonate most with you and start there. Small, consistent changes create the most sustainable results.

Maybe you start by skipping the ice in your drinks. Or switching to room temperature water with meals. Or letting yourself sleep without underwear.

Progress over perfection, always.

Your body is incredibly intelligent and wants to heal. Sometimes we just need to get out of its way and stop adding to the burden.

Stay Curious, Question Everything

If any of these surprised you, you’re not alone. So much of what we’ve been taught about “healthy” habits is actually working against our body’s natural processes.

The key is staying curious and being willing to question everything—even the things that seem like they should be helping.

When we know different, we can do different.

Let’s link arms on this journey toward supporting your body’s innate healing capacity.

The post 10 Things I No Longer Do as an Integrative Health Practitioner (And The Science-Backed Reasons Why) first appeared on Biohacking Bombshell.

“My great-grandmother had thyroid issues. My grandmother had them. My mom has them. And now I do too. The doctors say it’s just genetics and there’s nothing I can do.”

I hear this story constantly from my clients.

Multiple generations of women in the same family dealing with thyroid dysfunction, autoimmune conditions, neurological issues, or unexplained fatigue. They’ve been told it’s “genetic predisposition” and to just accept it.

The message is clear: “This runs in your family. There’s nothing you can do about it.”

But here’s what conventional medicine isn’t telling you: What looks like “genetics” is often multi-generational toxic accumulation.

The Story Your Doctor Isn’t Connecting

Let me paint you a picture of what’s really happening.

Environmental toxins don’t just accumulate in our bodies—they accumulate in our homes, our communities, and they can even alter our DNA expression through what scientists call epigenetic inheritance.

Families share the same water sources, household products, building materials, and environmental exposures for decades. Sometimes for generations.

This creates patterns that look genetic but are actually environmental.

Your grandmother lived in a house with lead paint and asbestos. Your mother grew up in that same house. You visited that house every weekend as a child. Now your daughter is playing in that same house.

The “family curse” of thyroid issues? It might not be your genes at all. It might be the house.

How Toxic Load Creates “Genetic” Looking Patterns

Here are the mechanisms that make environmental toxicity look like hereditary conditions:

Epigenetic Changes

Research shows that environmental toxicants can alter gene expression—and these changes can be passed to children through what’s called “generational toxicology.”

Think of it this way: your genes are like a library of books. Epigenetics determines which books get read and which stay on the shelf. Environmental toxins can change which books get opened, and those changes can be passed down.

What looks like “inherited disease” is really inherited toxic damage affecting gene expression.

Household Contamination

Families live in homes with the same mold, lead paint, asbestos, or chemical exposures for years or even decades.

Children absorb these toxins during critical developmental windows when their bodies are most vulnerable. Their developing brains, hormones, and immune systems are being shaped in a toxic environment.

Then they grow up, maybe move away for a while, but often return to help aging parents—re-exposing themselves to the same environmental factors.

Lifestyle Patterns

Families share cleaning products, personal care items, food sources, and lifestyle habits that create similar toxic exposures across generations—what researchers call the “exposome.”

You learned to clean the house the way your mother did, using the same bleach and chemical cleaners. You cook the food you grew up eating, stored in the same types of containers. You use the same shampoo, the same laundry detergent, the same air fresheners.

These aren’t just family traditions—they’re shared exposure patterns.

Bioaccumulation

Here’s the part that makes this even more concerning: environmental toxins build up in the environment over time.

Each generation faces a higher toxic burden than the last. This is why symptoms often seem to get worse with each generation—it’s not that the genes are getting “weaker,” it’s that the environmental burden is getting heavier.

Your great-grandmother might have had mild symptoms. Your grandmother had worse symptoms. Your mother’s symptoms were even more severe. And yours? They showed up earlier and stronger than all of them.

That’s not genetic weakness. That’s cumulative environmental burden.

Why Conventional Medicine Misses This

The medical system is designed to address symptoms, not investigate environmental root cause clues.

When multiple family members have similar symptoms, practitioners automatically assume genetics and stop looking for environmental factors.

Here’s what they’re not asking:

Environmental History – What house did multiple generations live in? What occupational exposures did family members have? What was in the water supply? Were there nearby industrial sites?

Toxic Load Assessment – Standard lab work doesn’t assess heavy metals, mold mycotoxins, or chemical burden that could be driving symptoms across generations.

Drainage Assessment – They don’t evaluate your body’s ability to eliminate toxins through proper drainage pathways, which determines how much damage accumulates over time.

Multi-System Thinking – They address each organ system separately instead of recognizing that environmental toxins affect multiple systems simultaneously—thyroid, immune system, nervous system, digestive system, hormones.

When they see the same patterns in a family, they write “family history” in your chart and move on.

But they never ask: “What environmental factors has this family been sharing for generations?”

Real Stories: Breaking the Generational Pattern

I’ve worked with entire families where three generations of women suffered from thyroid dysfunction, autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue, anxiety, digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, and chemical sensitivities.

After comprehensive analysis and functional lab testing data revealed patterns like heavy metal toxicity, mold exposure, and chemical accumulation, we were able to identify the environmental root cause clues.

One family discovered that the “family home” where everyone gathered for holidays had significant mold in the walls. Three generations had been exposed during critical times—childhood, pregnancy, postpartum recovery.

Another family traced their thyroid issues back to well water contaminated with industrial runoff. Four generations had been drinking that water.

Yet another discovered that the family business—a dry cleaning operation—had exposed multiple generations to perchloroethylene (PERC), a known endocrine disruptor.

In each case, what had been labeled “genetic” was actually environmental. And once we identified and addressed the environmental contributors, symptoms began improving—sometimes dramatically.

The Environmental Justice Piece You Need to Know

This isn’t just about individual health—it’s about environmental justice.

Research consistently shows that lower-income communities often face higher toxic exposures from:

Industrial pollution near residential areas

Older housing stock with lead paint and asbestos

Contaminated water sources

Lack of access to cleaner alternatives (organic food, non-toxic products, quality healthcare)

This creates health disparities that get blamed on “genetics” or “lifestyle choices” instead of addressing the real environmental causes.

Families in these communities aren’t genetically predisposed to thyroid disease or autoimmune conditions—they’re environmentally burdened in ways that wealthier communities aren’t.

When we say “it runs in the family,” we need to ask: what environmental factors run in the family’s environment?

Common Environmental Factors That Create “Genetic” Looking Patterns

Here are the most common environmental contributors I see creating multi-generational health patterns:

Mold in older homes – Can affect multiple generations living in or frequently visiting the same house. Mold mycotoxins can create thyroid dysfunction, immune dysregulation, neurological symptoms, and chronic fatigue.

Lead exposure – From old paint, pipes, or contaminated soil around homes. Lead affects neurological development, hormone regulation, and can contribute to anxiety, cognitive issues, and behavioral patterns.

Chemical contamination – From nearby industrial sites, agricultural areas, or Superfund sites. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) can affect multiple generations.

Occupational exposures – Families working in the same industries (farming, manufacturing, beauty salons, dry cleaning) face similar chemical exposures that can affect multiple generations.

Product choices – Using the same toxic household and personal care products for decades creates consistent exposure to endocrine disruptors, carcinogens, and neurotoxins.

Water contamination – Well water or municipal water contaminated with heavy metals, industrial chemicals, or agricultural runoff affects everyone in the household for generations.

You Have the Power to Break the Cycle

Here’s the empowering truth: You can be the first generation in your family to address the real environmental root causes.

You don’t have to accept that “it runs in your family.” You can investigate what’s actually running through your family’s environment.

Your children and grandchildren will thank you for having the courage to look beyond “genetics” and identify the true factors affecting your family’s health.

The First Step: Understanding Your Toxic Load

The first step is identifying your current toxic load and understanding which root cause clues may be affecting your family’s health patterns across generations.

I created the Free Toxic Load Assessment to help you do exactly that. It reveals your body’s toxic burden across major categories—heavy metals, mold mycotoxins, chemical exposure, and more.

This assessment takes less than 10 minutes and provides immediate insights into where your body is struggling.

Within 24-48 hours, you’ll get your personalized score showing which systems need support first. Plus, you’ll get access to my Toxic Load Masterclass, where I break down what your results mean and how to create a strategic plan.

Get Your Free Toxic Load Assessment →

Your TLA score helps identify environmental root cause clues and gives you clarity on where to delegate dollars wisely for maximum impact on your healing journey.

What Happens Next

Once you understand your toxic burden, you can:

Investigate your environment – Look at your home, water source, occupational exposures, and product choices with new eyes.

Open your drainage pathways – Before attempting detoxification, ensure your body can actually eliminate what you’re mobilizing. Remember: drainage before detox.

Address specific contributors – Work with someone who understands comprehensive analysis and functional lab testing to create bioindividualized protocols based on your specific patterns.

Protect future generations – By addressing these environmental factors now, you’re literally changing the trajectory of your family’s health for generations to come.

Become the Healthy Ancestor

You have the power to be the generation that breaks the cycle.

To look at your family’s health history and say: “This stops with me. My children won’t inherit this burden.”

That’s not just personal healing—that’s generational healing.

Your grandmother might not have had access to this information. Your mother might not have known that environmental factors were driving her symptoms. But you do. And knowledge is power.

Let’s link arms and cover all your bases—no whack-a-mole healthcare here. Just strategic, comprehensive approaches that address root cause clues instead of accepting “genetic predisposition” as your fate.

The post It’s Not Genetics—It’s Generational Toxic Accumulation (And You Can Break the Cycle) first appeared on Biohacking Bombshell.

If you’ve ever felt like sugar has a hold on you—and no matter how disciplined you try to be, the cravings always come back—I need you to hear this.

It might not be about willpower.

It might not even be about you.

In many of the clients I work with, chronic sugar cravings are one of the most consistent signs of parasitic overgrowth.

And before you think “that could never be me,” let me explain why this is far more common than you realize—and why it changes everything about how you approach those relentless cravings.

Why Parasites Are Obsessed With Sugar

Here’s what most people don’t understand: parasites literally feed on glucose.

Sugar provides rapid, easily accessible energy that parasites can use immediately for reproduction and survival. Unlike complex carbohydrates, which require more metabolic work to break down, simple sugars give parasites instant fuel.

Think of it this way: you might be eating that chocolate or reaching for that afternoon cookie—but you’re not the only one benefiting from it.

And parasites aren’t just passive consumers sitting in your gut waiting for whatever you happen to eat. They actively compete with your body for nutrients.

This is why people with parasitic overgrowth (even low-grade patterns) often feel tired, sleep-deprived, and mentally foggy—like they’re dragging through the day no matter how much they rest.

You’re not imagining it. You’re literally being drained.

Like A Puppet On A String

Here’s where this gets really disturbing—and fascinating.

Parasites produce their own neurotransmitters and hormones that influence your brain chemistry.

Research shows they can alter dopamine and serotonin levels, creating intense cravings for specific foods. When they need glucose, they release compounds that light up your brain’s reward pathways, making you feel like you desperately need something sweet.

Read that again.

The craving you’re experiencing? It might not be originating from you at all.

It’s biological manipulation. You’re not lacking discipline—you’re dealing with organisms that have hijacked your biochemistry to serve their own needs.

The Vicious Cycle That Keeps You Trapped

And here’s what makes this worse: the more sugar you eat, the more inviting your body becomes for parasites to multiply.

So you give in to the craving. You eat the sugar. The parasites thrive. They reproduce. They need more fuel. They manipulate your brain chemistry again. You crave more sugar.

The cycle continues.

And all the while, you’re beating yourself up for lacking willpower—when the reality is, you’re fighting against biochemical sabotage.

Fresh, Locally Grown, Farm-to-Table Parasites

“But I don’t travel internationally,” you might be thinking. “I eat clean. How would I even get parasites?”

You don’t need to travel abroad to encounter parasites.

They’re right here—in grocery stores, sushi bars, dog parks, and even your salad bowl.

Let me share some statistics that might shock you:

One study found that 90% of wild-caught fish contain parasites.

Another showed that 63.4% of fresh produce in the U.S. carried at least one parasite, with leafy greens topping the list at 76.9%.

The CDC estimates that millions of Americans unknowingly carry parasites.

I’m not saying this to make you afraid of eating fresh food. I’m saying this because parasites are already in your environment—and potentially in your body—influencing how you feel, eat, and function.

The organic kale salad you had for lunch? Could be harboring parasites.

The sushi you enjoyed last weekend? Likely source.

Your dog who you let lick your face? Possible transmission route.

Walking barefoot in your backyard? Another entry point.

We’ve been conditioned to think parasites are a “third world problem.” They’re not. They’re a right-here, right-now problem that most conventional doctors aren’t even looking for.

The Worst Roommate Ever

Clients often tell me, “I eat clean… but I still crave sugar all the time. It’s like my body has a mind of its own.”

When I tell them something else may be pulling the strings, they usually don’t believe me at first.

I get it. It sounds far-fetched. Almost science fiction-like.

But once we run the right functional labs and start addressing the parasitic load, something interesting happens: those previously uncontrollable sugar cravings start to fade on their own.

Not because they developed superhuman willpower overnight. But because we removed the organisms that were creating the cravings in the first place.

It’s Not Just Parasites

Now, I want to be clear about something: while parasites are a major player in chronic sugar cravings, they’re not the only ones.

Other root cause clues I commonly see contributing to intense sugar cravings include:

Candida overgrowth – This opportunistic yeast feeds on sugar and creates powerful cravings to keep itself fed

Bacterial imbalances – Dysbiosis in your gut microbiome can influence your food preferences and cravings

Adrenal dysfunction – When your cortisol rhythm is disrupted, your body craves quick energy from sugar to compensate

Blood sugar dysregulation – Insulin resistance and reactive hypoglycemia create a blood sugar rollercoaster that keeps you reaching for sweets

Nutrient deficiencies – Low magnesium, chromium, or B vitamins can trigger sugar cravings as your body searches for what it needs

The only way to know what’s driving YOUR cravings specifically? Work with someone who can assess these deeper layers.

Conventional labs won’t catch this. They’re not designed to.

But functional lab testing and comprehensive analysis can reveal the root cause clues that have been driving your symptoms all along.

The Signs That Parasites Might Be Your Problem

Beyond the sugar cravings, here are other patterns I commonly see in clients with parasitic overgrowth:

Grinding your teeth at night (bruxism)

Unexplained digestive issues—bloating, gas, irregular bowel movements

Skin issues like rashes, itching, or unexplained hives

Fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest

Joint and muscle aches

Brain fog and difficulty concentrating

Anxiety or mood swings

Disturbed sleep or insomnia

Iron deficiency anemia that doesn’t respond to supplementation

Never feeling satisfied after meals

If you’re nodding your head reading this list, parasitic overgrowth could be a hidden root cause clue worth investigating.

What Conventional Medicine Misses

Here’s the problem with how mainstream medicine approaches this: they don’t routinely test for parasites unless you have severe, obvious symptoms.

And when they do test, they use stool tests that have a 70% false negative rate. That means seven out of ten times, parasites are missed entirely.

You could have parasites wreaking havoc on your system, creating sugar cravings, draining your energy, and contributing to countless other symptoms—and your doctor would tell you “everything looks normal.”

This is exactly why I use comprehensive functional lab testing with my clients. We’re looking at markers that reveal patterns of parasitic overgrowth, assessing toxic load, and evaluating drainage pathways—not just running a basic stool test and calling it a day.

Breaking Free From the Cycle

Once we identify that parasites are contributing to your sugar cravings, addressing them requires a strategic approach.

You can’t just take a random anti-parasitic supplement from Amazon and hope for the best.

Remember what I always say: drainage before detox.

If your elimination pathways aren’t open—if your lymphatic system is sluggish, your liver is overburdened, or your gut isn’t moving properly—trying to address parasites will just make you feel worse.

We need to:

Open drainage pathways so your body can actually eliminate what we’re mobilizing

Address the parasitic load with bioindividualized protocols based on your specific patterns

Rebuild the terrain so your body becomes inhospitable to future parasitic overgrowth

Support blood sugar balance and gut health to prevent the cycle from starting again

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all protocol. It’s a comprehensive, strategic approach that addresses YOUR root cause clues—not just a generic “parasite cleanse.”

The Relief That Comes When Cravings Finally Fade

I’ll never forget when one of my clients—let’s call her Sarah—came back for her follow-up after we’d been addressing her parasitic load for about six weeks.

“The weirdest thing happened,” she said. “I walked past the bakery yesterday—you know, the one I used to stop at every single day—and I just… didn’t care. I didn’t even want anything. It was like someone flipped a switch.”

That’s what it feels like when you address the actual root cause instead of constantly fighting against your own biology.

The cravings don’t require white-knuckling anymore. They just… fade.

Your energy improves. Your brain fog lifts. You start feeling like yourself again.

And you realize: it was never about willpower. It was about identifying and addressing what was actually happening in your body.

Stop Blaming Your Sweet Tooth

If this resonates—if sugar cravings have been holding you hostage and nothing you’ve tried has worked long-term—it might be time to stop blaming your sweet tooth and start listening to what your body’s trying to tell you.

Those cravings are root cause clues. They’re your body’s way of signaling that something deeper needs attention.

I work with clients every day who thought they just “had no self-control around sugar”—only to discover they were dealing with parasitic overgrowth, candida, or other imbalances that were creating the cravings biochemically.

Once we address the root cause clues, the cravings resolve on their own. No willpower required.

Ready to Uncover What’s Really Going On?

If you’re tired of fighting sugar cravings and ready to understand what’s actually driving them, I’d love to help.

My Client Advocate team offers 40-Minute Breakthrough Sessions where we can talk one-on-one about what’s going on in your body and figure out what might be fueling your symptoms.

This isn’t a sales call. It’s a real conversation where we:

Review your health history and current symptoms

Identify potential root cause clues that might be contributing

Discuss what comprehensive testing could reveal

Explore whether working together makes sense for your healing journey

There’s no pressure. No obligation. Our mission is simply to uncover the underlying contributors to your symptoms, so you can break free from the cycle and regain your sense of self.

Remember those scrubby microbead body washes that were everywhere a few years ago?

We were told to stop using them because they were bad for the environment. The oceans. The fish.

Well, guess what.

Microplastics are no longer just an environmental issue.

They’re in us now.

Literally in our blood, our lungs, our liver, our brain—even our reproductive organs.

Given how dependent we’ve become on plastic in every aspect of modern life, this was completely inevitable. And now we’re paying the price.

And it’s not just adults dealing with this.

Our children’s bodies now come out of the womb already exposed to microplastics.

I’m not being dramatic. In 2021, scientists found microplastic particles in the umbilical cords of newborn babies. That means babies are exposed before they even take their first breath.

Let that sink in for a moment.

How Microplastics Are Getting Into Your Body

So how are these plastics infiltrating our bodies? Here are the biggest routes of exposure:

We Inhale Them

Synthetic fibers from carpets, clothes, and household dust break off and linger in the air. We breathe in tiny particles constantly, often without even knowing it. Every time you walk across your carpet or fold laundry, microscopic plastic fibers become airborne.

We Drink Them

Bottled water, tap water, and even sea salt have all tested positive for microplastics. Research shows that a single liter of bottled water can contain hundreds of plastic particles. That “pure mountain spring water” you’ve been drinking? It’s likely delivering a steady stream of plastic particles straight into your system.

We Eat Them

This one might surprise you. Produce can absorb nanoplastics through the roots—meaning even your organic vegetables might be contaminated. Fish and shellfish often contain microplastics because those plastic bags and scrubby microbeads we threw away end up right in the ocean, where marine life mistakes them for food.

Packaged, processed, and reheated foods can become plasticized depending on how they’re stored or heated. That “microwave-safe” container? We need to talk about that.

We Absorb Them

Cosmetics, lotions, and toothpastes sometimes contain plastic microspheres. These can enter through your skin or mucosal membranes, adding to your overall toxic load every single day.

What Microplastics Do Once They’re Inside You

Here’s where this gets really concerning: once inside your body, microplastics don’t just float around harmlessly.

Research has shown they can trigger:

Immune dysfunction

Hormone disruption

Oxidative stress

Mitochondrial damage

DNA alterations

Translation? These microscopic particles are actively interfering with your body’s ability to function optimally at the cellular level.

The Ziploc Lawsuit That Changes Everything

And now you can add Ziploc bags to the list of concerning plastics.

I know that’s hard to hear, especially if you’ve been using them for years thinking they were safe.

But Ziploc is currently facing a class-action lawsuit. A consumer is suing the company for false safety claims, alleging that the bags release microplastics when used as directed—exactly the way most of us use them every single day.

This lawsuit is blowing the lid off a conversation we desperately need to be having:

Just because a company makes a claim doesn’t mean it’s true.

Just because something is legal or “FDA-approved” doesn’t mean it’s safe.

Did you know that plastics labeled “microwave-safe” can still leach microplastics and chemicals into your food? A 2024 study published in EatingWell found that microwaving food in plastic containers triples microplastic transfer compared to room-temperature use.

Let me say that again: microwaving in plastic—even “microwave-safe” plastic—triples your exposure.

The Hormonal Connection You Need to Know About

Here’s what I see constantly in my practice: clients struggling with hormonal symptoms who have no idea that microplastic exposure is contributing to their struggles.

The biggest red flag for microplastic exposure? Hormonal dysfunction.

If you’re experiencing any of these, microplastics could be a hidden root cause clue:

Estrogen dominance

PMS symptoms that are getting worse

Infertility or difficulty conceiving

Irregular cycles

Low libido

Breast tenderness or fibrocystic breasts

Exacerbated perimenopause or menopause symptoms

Microplastics act as endocrine disruptors—meaning they interfere with your hormone production, metabolism, and signaling. Your body mistakes these plastic particles for hormones, creating chaos in your delicate hormonal balance.

Other Common Signs of High Microplastic Exposure

Beyond hormonal symptoms, here are other patterns I commonly see in clients with high microplastic exposure:

Mood swings, anxiety, or depression

Weight gain (especially stubborn abdominal fat)

Crushing fatigue or adrenal dysfunction

Thyroid dysfunction

Blood sugar dysregulation or insulin resistance

Migraines or frequent headaches

Skin issues like rashes, breakouts, or persistent dryness

If you’re nodding your head reading this list, it’s time to look at your plastic exposure as a potential contributor to your symptoms.

Simple Swaps You Can Make Right Now

I’m not here to overwhelm you or make you feel like you need to throw out everything in your kitchen tomorrow.

But I am here to help you make informed choices that reduce your toxic load over time.

Remember: it’s not about one exposure—it’s about the compound effect. Swap where you can, when you can.

Storage Swaps

Instead of: Plastic Tupperware and containers
Try: Glass storage containers with silicone or stainless steel lids

Instead of: Plastic Ziploc bags
Try: Food-grade silicone storage bags, compostable baggies, parchment paper bags, beeswax wraps, or paper bags

Instead of: Plastic wrap (Saran wrap)
Try: Beeswax wraps, silicone covers, or glass containers with lids

Kitchen Tool Swaps

Instead of: Plastic cooking utensils
Try: Stainless steel or wooden cooking utensils

Instead of: Plastic cutting boards
Try: Wood or bamboo cutting boards

Beverage Swaps

Instead of: Plastic water bottles
Try: Stainless steel or glass water bottles

Instead of: Drinking hot beverages from BPA-lined cups with plastic lids
Try: Bringing your own reusable mug or drinking from ceramic/glass when possible

Heating Food

Never: Microwave food in plastic containers (even “microwave-safe” ones)
Always: Transfer food to glass or ceramic before reheating

Never: Store hot food in plastic containers
Always: Let food cool first, or store in glass from the start

Other Considerations

Decline receipts when possible (they’re coated in BPA)

Choose loose produce over plastic-wrapped whenever you can

Filter your water (a quality filter can remove many microplastics)

Check your personal care products for plastic microbeads

Consider a HEPA air filter to reduce airborne microplastics in your home

The Bigger Picture: Your Toxic Load Matters

Here’s the thing: microplastics are just one piece of the toxic load puzzle.

We’re also dealing with heavy metals, mold mycotoxins, pesticides, forever chemicals (PFAS), and countless other environmental toxicants that our grandparents never had to worry about.

Your body has an incredible capacity to detoxify—but only when your drainage pathways are open and functioning optimally.

This is why I always say: drainage before detox.

If your lymphatic system is sluggish, your liver is overburdened, or your gut isn’t eliminating properly, you can’t effectively remove the toxins you’re exposed to. They just recirculate and accumulate, contributing to the symptoms you’re experiencing.

Want to Know Your Toxic Load Score?

Curious what toxicities and stressors are contributing to YOUR symptoms specifically?

I created a Free Toxic Load Assessment that gives you your exact Toxin Load Score across major categories and reveals many of the potential root cause clues at the core of your symptoms.

It takes less than 10 minutes and provides immediate insights into where you should focus your efforts for maximum impact on your healing journey.

Take the Free Toxic Load Assessment Here

You’re Not Powerless

I know this information can feel overwhelming. We’re surrounded by plastic. It’s in our homes, our cars, our workplaces. It feels impossible to avoid.

But here’s what I want you to remember: you’re not powerless.

Every swap you make matters. Every conscious choice to reduce your plastic exposure reduces your overall toxic load. And when you reduce your toxic load, you give your body the breathing room it needs to heal.

You don’t have to do everything at once. Start with one or two swaps. Maybe this week, you replace your plastic water bottle with a stainless steel one. Next month, you switch to glass food storage.

Progress over perfection, always.

Your body is resilient. When you remove the obstacles—when you stop the constant influx of toxins and support your natural detoxification pathways—your body knows how to heal.

Let’s Link Arms

If you’re realizing that microplastics (and other toxins) might be contributing to your stubborn symptoms, you’re not alone.

This is exactly the kind of root cause work I do with my clients every day. We don’t just identify the toxic load—we create bioindividualized protocols that address the contributors to your symptoms while supporting your body’s natural drainage and detoxification pathways.

No fluff. No whack-a-mole healthcare. Just real answers and actionable protocols that help you cover all your bases.

Ready to take your next best step? Start with the Toxic Load Assessment and let’s figure out where to delegate dollars wisely for maximum impact on your healing journey.

To your health,

They’re Not What You Think. first appeared on Biohacking Bombshell.

If you’ve been considering a liver flush—or if you’ve already done one—I need to tell you about something that shocks nearly every single person who goes through the protocol.

Those thin, reddish-brown, leaf-like things floating in the toilet that look like tomato skins or sweet potato peels?

They’re not food remnants.

They’re liver flukes.

And if you’re dealing with stubborn weight gain, crushing fatigue, or hormonal chaos that won’t resolve no matter what you try—these parasites might be the hidden root cause clue you’ve been missing.

Here’s What Most People Don’t Know About Liver Flukes

Liver flukes are found on every continent except Antarctica. They’re far more common than most people realize.

Yet I have yet to work with a client who’s looked at their stool during a parasite protocol and NOT seen evidence of them.

Every. Single. One.

Now, let me be clear about something important: we can’t legally label something as a “liver fluke” or make an official diagnosis—that’s outside our scope of practice as wellness practitioners.

But when clients experience certain patterns of symptoms and identify particular items in their stool during parasite protocols, scientific literature consistently shows correlations to parasitic organisms like liver flukes and the systemic effects they create.

We’re identifying root cause clues, not making diagnoses. But these clues tell a powerful story about what might be happening in your body.

The “Aha” Moment That Changes Everything

I’ll never forget the first time I saw them myself during my own liver flush.

At first, I genuinely thought: “Huh, I don’t remember eating tomatoes.”

Then I saw another one. And another. These thin, reddish-brown, leaf-like objects floating in the water.

My stomach dropped because I knew—somewhere deep in my gut—that those weren’t tomato skins.

Suddenly, so many things clicked into place.

The stubborn weight that wouldn’t budge. The hormonal chaos. The brain fog that made me feel like I was moving through molasses. The digestive issues that seemed to have no pattern.

All of it had an explanation that conventional medicine had completely missed.

How Parasites Sabotage Your Whole System

Here’s what most people don’t understand: parasites aren’t just “hanging out” in your digestive tract, minding their own business.

They’re actively sabotaging your metabolism, stealing your nutrients, and manipulating your biochemistry for their own survival.

Metabolic Hijacking

Parasites alter your lipid metabolism and promote fat cell growth. They literally reprogram your body to store fat instead of burn it.

Your scale won’t budge despite perfect nutrition and exercise—and it’s not about willpower. It’s about microscopic organisms changing how your body processes and stores energy.

Hormone Disruption

They interfere with thyroid function, insulin sensitivity, and cortisol production—creating a perfect storm for weight gain (especially around your midsection) and metabolic dysfunction that conventional medicine can’t explain.

You go to the doctor. Your thyroid labs come back “normal.” But you feel anything but normal.

What they’re not testing for? The parasitic load that’s disrupting your hormones at the cellular level.

Nutrient Theft

Even if you’re eating perfectly—organic foods, balanced meals, all the “right” things—parasites steal your B vitamins, iron, and other nutrients before your body can use them.

You can eat 2000 calories but only absorb 1200 calories worth of nutrition. This is why some people eat well but still show signs of malnutrition.

Hello, iron deficiency anemia that won’t respond to supplementation. Hello, B12 deficiency despite eating plenty of meat. Hello, persistent fatigue despite “doing everything right.”

The Neurotransmitter Connection

This is where it gets really disturbing.

Parasites influence your brain chemistry. They can increase cravings for sugar and refined carbs (their favorite foods), decrease your motivation to exercise, and create mood swings that make sticking to healthy habits nearly impossible.

Those intense sugar cravings you think are about willpower? That’s not you lacking discipline. That’s biochemical manipulation by organisms that need glucose to survive and reproduce.

The Physical Symptoms That Won’t Budge

When liver flukes set up camp in your liver and bile ducts, they create congestion that affects everything downstream.

You might be experiencing:

Weight loss resistance despite doing everything “right”

Crushing fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest

Bloating, especially after fatty meals (because bile flow is compromised)

Hormonal imbalances that seem to be getting worse

Joint pain that doctors can’t explain

Skin issues like acne, eczema, or unexplained rashes

Food sensitivities that seem to multiply

Iron deficiency anemia despite supplementation

Brain fog that makes you feel like you’re operating at 60% capacity

That general feeling of being “toxic” that you can’t shake

These aren’t random symptoms. They’re root cause clues pointing to parasitic load and liver congestion that’s been completely overlooked.

Why Conventional Medicine Misses This

Here’s the problem with how mainstream medicine approaches this: they address each symptom separately.

Weight gain? “Eat less, move more.”

Fatigue? “You need antidepressants.”

Digestive issues? “Here’s some acid blockers.”

Brain fog? “It’s probably stress.”

This approach completely misses the underlying parasitic load driving all these symptoms simultaneously.

And when they do test for parasites? Standard stool tests have a 70% false negative rate. That means seven out of ten times, parasites are missed entirely.

You could have parasites wreaking havoc on your system—creating weight gain, draining your energy, disrupting your hormones—and your doctor would tell you “everything looks normal.”

My Approach Is Different

I look at the whole picture. Through comprehensive analysis and functional lab testing data, we create bioindividualized plans that address root cause clues instead of playing whack-a-mole with symptoms.

We’re not just treating individual symptoms. We’re identifying the parasitic patterns that might be driving multiple symptoms simultaneously and creating strategic protocols to address them.

How Fresh Is Your Produce? (Spoiler: It Might Come With Extras)

“But I don’t travel internationally,” you might be thinking. “How would I even get liver flukes?”

Let me share some statistics that might surprise you:

Research shows that 90% of wild-caught fish contain parasites.

Another study found that 63.4% of fresh produce in the U.S. carried at least one parasite, with leafy greens topping the list at 76.9%.

That organic kale salad you’re so proud of eating? Could be harboring parasites.

The sushi you enjoyed last weekend? Almost certainly contained parasitic organisms (though cooking kills most of them).

Your dog who you let lick your face? Possible transmission route.

Walking barefoot in your backyard? Another entry point.

We’ve been conditioned to think parasites are a “third world problem.” They’re not. They’re a right-here, right-now problem hiding in our food supply, our pets, our soil, and our water.

The Liver Flush Connection

This brings us back to liver flushes and why so many people are shocked by what they see.

A properly executed liver flush can help release accumulated bile sludge, congestion, and—yes—parasitic material that’s been living in your liver and bile ducts.

When you see those “tomato skins” floating in the toilet, you’re seeing tangible evidence of something that’s been affecting your health for possibly years.

It’s simultaneously gross and incredibly validating.

Gross because… well, parasites.

Validating because your body has been trying to tell you something was wrong, and now you have visible proof. You’re not crazy. You’re not making it up. There’s a real, tangible root cause clue that’s been driving your symptoms.

Does This Sound Like You?

If you’ve been told “your labs look normal” while feeling absolutely terrible, you’re not crazy. Standard lab work misses parasitic load 70% of the time.

Your body is already sending signals:

Stubborn weight that won’t respond to diet and exercise

Crushing fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest or sleep

Hormonal imbalances that seem to be getting worse

Digestive issues, particularly with fatty foods

Brain fog that makes focusing feel impossible

Skin problems, joint pain, or unexplained inflammation

That general feeling of being “toxic” you can’t shake

Intense sugar cravings that feel impossible to control

These aren’t random symptoms. They’re root cause clues pointing to parasitic load that’s been completely overlooked by conventional medicine.

Ready to Stop Chasing Symptoms and Address the Root Cause?

This is exactly why I created the Free Parasite Masterclass.

During this comprehensive training, you’ll understand:

How parasites (including liver flukes) sabotage your metabolism, hormones, and energy at the cellular level

Why standard lab work misses parasitic patterns 70% of the time—and what to look for instead

The step-by-step approach for implementing a proper parasite protocol

Why “drainage before detox” is the most critical principle

The exact products and protocols I use with my clients

This isn’t just theory. It’s the exact framework I’ve used to support hundreds of clients in identifying and addressing parasitic load that conventional medicine completely overlooks.

It’s completely free. My gift to my community—full of educational facts, protocol suggestions, and my go-to products for parasites.

Watch the Parasite Masterclass →

You’ll learn exactly how parasites sabotage your system and the strategic approach for addressing them at the root cause level—not just masking symptoms.

No pressure. No obligation. Just practical resources to help you make informed decisions about your healing journey.

The Bottom Line: Those “Tomato Skins” Are Telling You Something

If you’ve been considering a liver flush, or if you’ve already done one and seen those “tomato skins” yourself, now you know what you’re actually dealing with.

Liver flukes and parasitic load are far more common than most people realize. The fact that conventional medicine doesn’t routinely look for them doesn’t mean they’re not contributing to your struggles.

When you finally identify and address what’s actually happening at the root cause level, everything changes:

You stop playing whack-a-mole with symptoms

You start making real, sustainable progress

You stop feeling like a medical mystery

You start feeling empowered with answers

You stop settling for “normal” lab results while feeling terrible

You start getting results that actually move the needle

Quick question…

When’s the last time you cleaned the rubber seal on your water bottle?

Sure, you give it a quick rinse, but actually taking it off the lid and washing it?

Uhhhh, maybe never?

Well, if that’s the case, I’m about to really gross you out.

Because it’s likely you’ve got a nice little mold colony thriving in there right now, getting a free ride into your system every time you take a sip.

Yuck, I know.

But don’t panic—just pop the seal out and give it a scrub with white vinegar. You’ll be shocked at what comes out.

This is just one of the seemingly random places where mold hangs out. And I’m sorry to tell you… there are even more you’re not aware of.

Mold’s Favorite Hiding Spots

Sure, you know all about the typical places mold lives—damp areas like basements, shower grout, and window sills.

But mold is an expert-level hide-and-seek player.

It loves to set up camp in places you’d never think to look:

1. Behind Your Furniture

That particleboard backing on your nightstand or dresser? Prime real estate for mold growth. When furniture sits flush against exterior walls, condensation builds up with nowhere to go.

What to do: Pull furniture away from walls at least 3 inches to allow airflow.

2. In Your Washing Machine

Especially on that rubber gasket that keeps water from leaking out. Replacing that piece is weirdly expensive and nearly impossible to clean properly. And yes, mold can transfer to your clothes—meaning you’re wearing it all day.

What to do: Leave the washing machine door open after each use to air dry. Clean the gasket monthly with white vinegar.

3. Your Dehumidifier

The irony is real. The appliance meant to prevent mold can actually be growing it in the water reservoir. If you’re not emptying and cleaning it regularly, you’re just creating a mold breeding ground.

What to do: Empty and clean the reservoir every 2-3 days. Let it air dry completely before replacing.

4. Inside Your AC Unit

Temperature changes create condensation, which creates puddles, which creates mold. Then your AC pumps those spores through every room in your house, and you breathe them in all day and night.

What to do: Schedule professional AC cleaning annually. Change filters every 1-3 months depending on use.

5. Your Closet

Especially if it’s packed tight with poor air circulation. When humidity hits 70%, natural materials like wool and cotton become mold magnets. That “musty” smell? That’s mold.

What to do: Use cedar blocks or sachets. Don’t pack clothing too tightly. Ensure proper air circulation.

6. Houseplants

The soil holds moisture and organic matter—everything mold needs to thrive. Overwatering makes it worse. Those cute potted plants bringing “life” to your space might also be bringing spores.

What to do: Allow soil to dry between waterings. Don’t overwater. Consider adding a layer of decorative rocks on top of soil to reduce moisture exposure.

7. Toothbrush Holders

Dark, damp, with water dripping down and sitting at the bottom. Perfect mold habitat. And every time you put your toothbrush back, you’re potentially contaminating it.

What to do: Wash toothbrush holders weekly. Let them dry completely. Consider holders with drainage holes.

8. Behind Your Drywall

A mold remediator friend told me that 90% of his jobs involve drywall—meaning mold is literally hiding in the walls behind wallpaper and paint, where you can’t see it. You might have no idea it’s there until you start experiencing symptoms.

What to do: Look for water stains, bubbling paint, or discoloration. If you suspect hidden mold, call a professional for inspection.

9. Non-Moldy Food

You might notice mold on one strawberry and wonder if you need to toss the whole container. Unfortunately, yes. By the time you see mold on the surface, it’s created a massive network of invisible threads (mycelium) throughout the entire container.

What to do: When you see mold on any food in a container, toss the whole thing. Store produce in breathable containers and check daily.

Your Complete Hidden Mold Checklist

Use this comprehensive checklist to identify and address mold hiding spots throughout your home:

Kitchen & Dining

Water bottle rubber seals → Remove & soak in white vinegar weekly

Coffee maker water reservoir → Empty & air dry after each use

Refrigerator drip tray → Clean monthly with bleach solution

Under-sink cabinets → Check for leaks, use moisture absorbers

Dishwasher rubber seals → Wipe down after each cycle

Fruit & vegetables → Store in breathable containers, check daily

Laundry & Bathroom

Washing machine gasket → Leave door open to air dry, clean monthly

Shower curtains & liners → Wash or replace every 3 months

Bathroom exhaust fans → Clean dust buildup quarterly

Toothbrush holders → Wash & dry completely weekly

Behind toilets → Check for hidden leaks & moisture

Bath mats → Hang to dry completely after each use

HVAC & Climate Control

AC units & vents → Professional cleaning annually

Dehumidifier reservoirs → Empty & clean every 2-3 days

Humidifiers → Daily water changes, weekly deep clean

Window units → Remove & clean coils seasonally

Ductwork → Professional inspection every 3-5 years

Living Spaces

Behind furniture → Pull away from walls 3+ inches for airflow

Closets → Use cedar blocks, ensure air circulation

Houseplant soil → Allow soil to dry between waterings

Picture frames → Dust regularly, check wall contact points

Books & papers → Store in dry areas, use silica gel packets

Carpets & rugs → Professional cleaning annually, immediate spill cleanup

Structural Areas

Behind drywall → Look for water stains, bubbling paint

Basement & crawl spaces → Dehumidify, seal cracks

Attic spaces → Ensure proper ventilation & insulation

Window frames → Check seals, wipe condensation daily

Under flooring → Address any water damage immediately

Personal Items

Children’s bath toys → Squeeze out water, air dry completely

Makeup brushes → Clean weekly, store in dry area

Gym bags → Air out after each use, wash monthly

Shoes → Rotate wearing, use cedar shoe trees

Car interiors → Keep dry, use moisture absorbers

Red Flag Signs to Watch For

Even if you’re following all the prevention strategies, watch for these warning signs that mold might be present:

Musty, earthy odors (even faint ones)

Water stains or discoloration on walls/ceilings

Peeling or bubbling paint/wallpaper

Increased allergy symptoms at home (but not elsewhere)

Humidity levels consistently above 60%

Any water damage (past or present)

Condensation on windows regularly

Visible mold growth anywhere (obvious, but worth stating)

Remember: By the time you can see or smell mold, it’s already well-established. Prevention is key.

Quick Prevention Tips

These simple habits can dramatically reduce mold growth in your home:

Keep indoor humidity between 30-50%

Fix water leaks within 24-48 hours

Ensure proper ventilation in moisture-prone areas

Use exhaust fans during showers & cooking

Clean up spills immediately

Regularly inspect & maintain HVAC systems

Store items off the floor in basements/garages

Replace old caulking around tubs & showers

Open windows when weather permits to increase air circulation

Use dehumidifiers in damp areas

Why This Matters More Than You Think

Mold isn’t just a cleaning issue—it’s a health issue.

When you’re exposed to mold in your home (even if you can’t see it), you’re adding to your body’s overall toxic load. And when your toxic load gets too high, that’s when symptoms start appearing.

If you’ve been experiencing unexplained fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, digestive problems, or hormonal imbalances that conventional medicine can’t explain—hidden mold exposure could be one of the contributing factors.

Want to understand your complete toxic burden? I created a Free Toxic Load Assessment that reveals exactly where your body is struggling and what systems need support first.

It takes less than 10 minutes, and you’ll get your personalized score within 24-48 hours—plus access to my Toxic Load Masterclass that breaks down what your results mean and how to create a strategic plan.

Get Your Free Toxic Load Assessment →

Start With Your Water Bottle

You don’t have to tackle this entire checklist today. Start small.

Go check that water bottle seal right now. Clean it. Then pick one other area this week—maybe your washing machine gasket or your toothbrush holder.

Progress over perfection. Every mold source you eliminate reduces your toxic burden.

And when you reduce your toxic burden, you give your body the breathing room it needs to function optimally.

Have you ever experienced a symptom or condition related to hormonal imbalance like mood swings, brain fog, PMS, PMDD, endometriosis, infertility, irregular periods, fibroids, night sweats, hot flashes, low libido, acne, PCOS, etc, only to be given “solutions” like Hormone Replacement Therapy or some sort of birth control without your practitioner ever truly identifying and addressing the deeper root causes at play?

I went through this for years. I dealt with amenorrhea, irregular periods, ovarian cysts. and estrogen dominance. OB-GYNs, nurses, and even functional MDs provided me with countless different options for contraceptives, as well as progesterone cream, without actually taking the time to get to the root causes problems at hand.

And I see this time and time again in my clinic. My clients come to me having had previous practitioners who got so dialed in on hormone replacement therapy, birth control, and even some natural hormone-supporting supplements or nutritional modifications that emphasized the macro and micronutrients that best support hormonal balance…but ultimately ignored the toxins that actually disrupt their hormones. So they are months, or typically years, into those treatments/protocols and they’re STILL not feeling better.

An important piece of the hormone health conversation pertains to the hormone-disrupting toxins that we are exposed to on a daily basis. And if we don’t start making them part of mainstream medical conversations, both women AND men are going to have a hard time finding any type of true hormonal balance.

Xenoestrogens, toxins that have estrogen-mimicking effects, are some of the biggest influencers in hormonal imbalance. They can be found in plastics, pesticides, insecticides, parabens in our personal care products, petrochemicals in our tap water, phthalates in our food packaging, and more. But one of the xenoestrogens I see talked about the least but influences my clients the most is MOLD with estrogenic properties!

Mold & Your Hormones

I remember a few years ago, I ran a Mycotoxin (mold toxin) Urinalysis Panel on my one client, Katie, as we were running several functional medicine labs to better identify the root causes of her chronic fatigue, brain fog, bloating, and mold swings. As we were reviewing her results that showed several elevated mycotoxins, she shared with me that her previous practitioner (who was also in the functional medicine space) told her that it would be “impossible” for her to have mycotoxins in her system. My client had been struggling for years with her chronic health challenges, suspecting that there may be mold in her condo that was contributing to her issues, but her previous practitioner gaslit her into thinking that there was NO WAY mold could be an issue.

Let’s take the mycotoxin, Zearalenone, for example.

Zearalenone (ZEA) is technically an estrogenic mycotoxin, meaning it mimics estrogen and can actually bind to the SAME receptors as estrogen can… that’s a problem! ZEA is a food-prone mold toxin found in maize and other cereal crops such as barley, oats, rice, sorghum, rye, and wheat (note: whether a food is organic or not, it can still have mold).

ZEA exposure has been tied to infertility, bleeding problems, immune and endocrine system issues, and beyond.

In vivo studies have shown how ZEA can influence ovulation rates in animals.

ZEA has also been found to have the potential to cause cell proliferation in women with endometriosis who do not have sufficient estrogen levels. It can potentially exacerbate the condition by “stepping in” with its own estrogenic properties, binding to estrogen receptors, and worsening the condition.

And ZEA is just ONE type of mycotoxin. Mold exposure as a whole also impairs liver function, one of the primary organs responsible for healthy hormone metabolism.

Estrogen dominance, an incredibly common condition among women it today’s world, is also linked to mold, leading to symptoms like brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, depression, bloating, mood swings, hair loss, insomnia, low libido, and more. You likely have a congested liver with impaired function due to toxins like mold and other environmental toxins, and some sludgy bile affecting hormone metabolite excretion and detox as a whole!

So why are the majority of practitioners failing to even consider mold as a potential root cause?

We can thank our conventional medicine education system for that! Unfortunately, even though the studies are out there, it takes an average of 17 years from the time a study is done until its actually put into conventional medicine practice. And even then, many of these facts get bull-dozed or completely swept under the rug by the mainstream medical curriculums funded by Big Pharma. most aren’t trained to think outside of the standard education they have received. Don’t worry – that’s what we’re here for. Just like Katie did, if you are serious about getting to the root causes and finding solutions to the health problems that your doctors have dismissed, let’s chat.
